Artistic Style

Sandra’s hallmark style blends saturated color and luminous light, expressed through elegant impressionistic realism. Her work radiates joy and invites viewers to see beauty through a lens of hope and wonder.

early career

Born and raised in Western Massachusetts, Sandra began her art career as a graphic artist for AT&T while attending night school to study fine art. She later earned her B.A. in Fine Art from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA, before marrying Stuart Gittleman and moving to Georgia.

Her love for oil painting grew while living in Atlanta, where she studied the Old Masters’ techniques at the award-winning DiDomizio Arts Center in Buckhead.

teaching

Creativity in many forms, especially painting, remained constant throughout her seasons of motherhood, employment and relocation. Her journey has included live-painting performances, hosting creative conferences, gallery exhibitions, and serving schools and ministries.

These experiences proved invaluable during her tenure as an art teacher at Community School of Davidson in Davidson, NC where she instructed hundreds of students across various mediums.

Art studio

In 2021, Sandra launched Sandra’s ART Studio on South Main Street in Cornelius, NC. There she paints for galleries and commissions, hosts studio events and teaches art. Her work is available at her studio, online at www.sandragittleman.com and Juelerye Artisan Gallery in Mooresville, NC. Sandra paintings are part of numerous private and public collections across the U.S. and Canada.

Working from her studio, Sandra continues to expand her portfolio with new series that reflect her evolving exploration of line, shape, and color. Each piece contributes to a broader conversation about art as a living, breathing extension of personal truth and shared experience.

Exhibitions & Recognition

Her paintings have been shown in galleries and juried exhibitions, where they have been noted for their movement, depth, and emotional power. Sandra’s work has found its place in both private collections and curated shows, appealing to collectors who value art with both energy and intimacy.
